Avatar Adventurers Online Becomes XBLIGs First Online RPG

Avatar Adventurers Online was released last night, and after around 1,700 Indie Games, we’ve finally seen our first (almost) massively multiplayer online role playing game (mamorpaga.)

As with all online Indie Games, if you want a decent number of people to play with, get in early before the game empties. Hopefully, the avatar based nature of it should see the online audience last for a while, though.

EDIT: As noted in the comments, the game is playable with up to 31 players at once (okay, maybe it’s not that massive, sorry!)

Available right now, for 240 Microsoft Points.

How does it circumvent the max players per session limit?

  2. It’s not circumventing it. It still limits players to 31 per sessions (since that’s a restriction built into the XNA framework). Calling it a MMORPG is misleading and the game doesn’t actually claim that just this article 🙂

Article updated, sorry for being misleading!

Still pretty cool despite the limitations – CO calls itself an MMO and only allows a max of 50 people per instance, so this is not much less.
